Universal Play is a community health initiative by EHA healthcare in India. It seeks to create unique and fun play environments which are universally accessible, able to be enjoyed by children with a broad range of physical and mental disabilities, alongside able bodied children.
The approach is local, low cost, and low tech. Working with a team of occupational therapists at EHA, I developed the architectural design and drawing packages for the playgrounds, along with illustrations of the play equipment and designs. The illustrations worked alongside the technical drawings to clearly communicate the concepts to local fabricators and builders, and they were also used throughout the project documents and funding proposals which were used to secure project funding.
